What a TW 650 Screener Can Do For Your Process Downstream

What enters a PD truck doesn’t always stay inside a PD truck.

While your goal may be to transport or convey your material from these trucks into a silo, there’s always a chance that foreign material somehow found its way into the truck as it's being filled. Nuts, bolts, rocks, small pieces of wood, or even a misplaced glove don’t just contaminate your material — they can even pose a threat to devices downstream in your material handling process.

At AZO, we would be remiss not to mention one specific innovation in this context. The TW650 Screener is specifically designed to stop foreign material from entering a silo from a PD truck in the first place. In this blog post, we’ll shed light on two pieces of equipment the TW650 Screener actually aids by blocking foreign material at that point and share some other benefits to this unique screening machine.

A TW650 catches material that would shred the screens of a downstream screener

The TW650 screener prevents foreign material from entering a silo. In doing so, it actually protects the screens of other screening devices downstream. When a nylon screen is in need of changing, it starts to stretch, fray, droop or look otherwise like sinking is apparent in the middle of the screen.

It’s critical for centrifugal screeners to be inspected once a shift. On the other hand, the TW650 model should be monitored after every unloading event.

Though the nylon screens of cyclone screeners should continue to be checked once a shift (every shift), implementing a TW650 at the beginning of the process is an extra assurance that anything as big or intrusive as a glove is kept out of the silo and stays away from downstream equipment as a result. Additionally, the TW650 Screener is built with magnets so metal materials like nuts or bolts have a slim chance of tearing a screen following conveying from the silo.

The TW650 keeps rotary valves from stopping up

Rotary valves are high precision machines with very close tolerances. It's critical to catch foreign material for the safety of a valve before that material gets into the system. Implementing the TW650 Screener is a smart precaution for an extra level of safety in terms of keeping these valves fully operational.

Some rotary valves will be located on the bottom of a silo and feed other screeners, so having a TW650 integrated to prevent material getting hung up in the pockets of these valves is one smart precaution, otherwise, a large bolt could easily be conveyed along with the product and hang up a valve. Depending on what material is being handled, the TW650 might not be completely necessary, but an extra check never hurts a process.

Additional TW advantages: flexibility and portability

In addition to it’s assisting capabilities for downstream equipment, the TW650 model screener is unique in its portability and ease of use. Quick-release clamps make cleaning and inspection a breeze. Its simple design means that there aren’t any mechanical parts moving within the screener. This means it can be rolled in, out and around a facility depending on where you decide you’d like it to catch foreign material next.

If a facility needed to use other pressure sifters for unloading, they’d have to permanently install it and possibly even build a building around it. The TW650 can easily be transported from one side of a plant to the other and kept inside and out of the weather between sifting sessions. While it’s generally only used for unloading, this screener is perfectly applicable in both pressure and vacuum conveying systems.

In addition to the TW650, AZO has a long history of innovating centrifugal screeners. In some corners of the material handling universe “AZO” is simply synonymous with these screening machines.
